Man, I’ve ❤ed the down tempo version 4 years & saw vid of 1 other famous performance of it w/the Dap Kings, but this one REALLY made me feel things😢😩 The small, yet huge differences in vocal delivery from the other live one I saw etc…Been a huge fan since the minute I heard her lead USA single at 23 & she’s still my fave at 40 (age she would’ve been, too😢). Dap Kings deserve credit for embellishing these performances to make them even more moving. Al Green & Beyonce perform the f outta songs, but don’t WRITE them & Swift is so meh compared to Amy! Best of my generation & not just “elder millenials.” Tabloids were RUTHLESS back then. Glad they aren’t nearly as disgusting now. They went disproportionately hard on celeb women age ~17-28 back then. 2007 was like a field day! And I always found it disgusting since I drank too much back then etc, too. Amy & her…less gifted peers like B Spears solidified my aversion to fame. Crazy how Zoomers chase it so much; I’ll pass! But admit I’m glad Amy got big on my side of the pond since she sang & said lotsa stuff ppl like me needed to hear. ❤ Adele, but she doesn’t do it for me as much. Glad she asserts her right to a private life btw albums, though. And glad she’s cut our for fame. Amy was the greatest talent of the 2000’s, but like Cobain etc, couldn’t handle it. And tho Britney Spears is a very inferior artist, I’m glad she’s “free.” The sexism’s still alive & well, but less paparazzi hounding/tabloids?
